12 and 13-Year-Old Boys Charged with Carjacking in Austin Neighborhood

Shocking news emerged from the Austin neighborhood as two young boys, aged just 12 and 13, have been charged with carjacking a couple on Sunday, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The victims, a 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, were approached by the boys in the 1600 block of North Long around 9:10 p.m. Reports indicate that the boys, armed at the time, forcibly took control of the victims’ black 2014 Volkswagen Jetta.

Law enforcement officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle in the 1300 block of North Lamon and apprehend the young suspects. Both boys are facing charges of vehicular hijacking and robbery.

Due to their age, no further details about the boys or the allegations have been released as Illinois law protects juvenile court and police records from public disclosure.
