Teenage Engineering, a renowned electronics company based in Stockholm, has recently unveiled a delightful and innovative addition to its array of audio systems. Known as The Choir, this collection of linkable digital speakers features eight charming and quirky wooden characters, each with its own unique vocal range.

The members of The Choir are crafted from beechwood and come in a variety of designs. From Olga, a Russian contralto resembling a Matryoshka doll, to Bogdan, a bass wearing a distinctive hat, and Miki, a tenor representing Japan, each figurine exudes its own personality. These wooden singers are equipped with internal speakers that can operate continuously for three to four hours. Additionally, they can be linked together via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) with up to 15 other members of the Choir.

One of the most fascinating aspects of The Choir is its ability to perform both pre-recorded compositions and original tunes with the help of a midi keyboard connected via BLE. The result is a mesmerizing blend of human-like and digital sounds that create a unique audio experience.

Renowned composer Rob Simonsen, known for his work on films like The Whale, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Deadpool & Wolverine, found The Choir to be the perfect fit for his latest project, Elio. Set in space, Disney and Pixar’s new film required a sound that was out of this world. Simonsen was captivated by the unearthly yet relatable sound of The Choir, describing it as a blend of electronic and human elements that perfectly captured the essence of the film.

The Choir members are available for purchase individually for $249 or as a complete set for $1,992 in Teenage Engineering’s online store. This unique audio experience has garnered attention for its innovative approach to music and sound production.
