Come on down to South Park for Season 27!
Paramount has announced that the premiere of “South Park” Season 27 has been rescheduled from its original release date of July 9 to July 23. The season premiere will be airing on Comedy Central at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
In a trailer released in April, the 27th season of the popular animated series was teased to cover topics such as ketamine, a bloody war against Canada, violent plumbing issues, a space-dwelling Diddy, and air traffic control disasters. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are known for their sharp social commentary, and fans can expect more of the same in the upcoming season.
Season 26, which consisted of only six episodes, was released in March 2023. The show notably skipped over the 2024 presidential election, a decision that Parker and Stone said was intentional, as they wanted to avoid the overwhelming focus on political events that can overshadow the show’s humor and creativity.
Addressing the hiatus, Stone remarked, “We’ve tried to do ‘South Park’ through four or five presidential elections, and it is such a hard thing to — it’s such a mind scramble, and it seems like it takes outsized importance.” Parker added, “Obviously, it’s important, but it kind of takes over everything and we just have less fun. I don’t know what more we could possibly say about Trump.”
Parker and Stone are executive producers of the show, along with Anne Garefino and Frank C. Agnone II. Eric Stough serves as a producer, with Adrien Beard, Bruce Howell, and Vernon Chatman also contributing to the production team. Christopher Brion is the creative director of South Park Digital Studios.
