Things got a little heated on CNN’s “NewsNight” between Bakari Sellers and Scott Jennings during a discussion on Trump’s threat to arrest Zohran Mamdani if he becomes New York City mayor and refuses to assist federal immigration agents.
However, it seems like the tension may have just been playful banter.
During the debate, Jennings jokingly touched Sellers’ shoulder, calling him “comrade.” Sellers responded by asking him not to touch him, but the moment ended with laughter and smiles, suggesting it was all in good fun.
Sellers even referenced a similar moment from December where he had touched Jennings, who had a similar reaction.
Host Abby Phillip intervened, reminding them to keep their hands to themselves at the table.
As of now, neither Sellers nor Jennings has addressed the incident on social media, but Sellers did retweet the videos without adding any comments.
Whether it was a running gag or a sign of tension, the dynamic between Sellers, a Democrat, and Jennings, a Republican, adds an interesting element to the panel.
