FDNY Firefighter Arrested After Bronx Road Rage Incident

An FDNY firefighter found himself in hot water after getting into a physical altercation with another man during a road rage incident in the Bronx. The firefighter, identified as Peter Clough, 34, was arrested for assault following the altercation with 28-year-old Jelani Footman.

The clash between Clough and Footman stemmed from a previous smash-up earlier in the day, which escalated when tensions boiled over on Edison Avenue near Bruckner Boulevard around 5:50 p.m., according to police reports.

During the confrontation, Footman reportedly approached Clough with a clenched fist and threatened him, stating, “I got something for you.” In response, Clough struck Footman, causing him to briefly lose consciousness.

Fortunately, Footman’s injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening, and he did not require hospitalization. Clough, on the other hand, was taken into custody and charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor offense.

Footman also faced legal consequences for his role in the altercation, as he was charged with menacing by the police.

Despite the incident, an FDNY spokesman confirmed that Clough’s status with the department remained unchanged following his arrest. Officials are reportedly reviewing the situation to determine any further actions or consequences.
