The Texas Hill Country recently experienced a devastating flash flood on July 4, 2025, resulting in the loss of over 80 lives, including 28 children from Camp Mystic. Governor Greg Abbott and President Donald Trump have declared the region a major disaster area, urging people to stay away to allow professional rescue teams to work safely.

In light of this tragedy, there are specific ways in which individuals can assist with relief efforts. Monetary donations to regional and national relief funds are crucial at this time. The Kerr County Flood Relief Fund and The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country are accepting donations to support rescue, relief, and recovery efforts in the affected areas.

Additionally, organizations like TEXSAR, The Red Cross, GoFundMe, and World Central Kitchen are actively involved in providing support to flood victims and first responders. Donations to these organizations can make a significant impact on the ongoing relief efforts in the Texas Hill Country.

Furthermore, essential supplies are in high demand for those affected by the floods. Southern Oaks Church in Kerrville, The Salvation Army’s Kroc Center, Treaty Oak Distilling in Dripping Springs, and Jester King Brewery in Austin are collecting items such as personal hygiene products, food, water, cleaning supplies, and clothing for distribution to those in need.

It’s important to note that while the desire to help in person is understandable, the most effective way to support flood survivors is by sending supplies and funds. Rescue operations are still ongoing, and the presence of additional volunteers can pose risks in hazardous conditions. Donations and essential supplies are the most critical forms of assistance needed at this time.
