During a harrowing rescue operation in Oregon, two terrified teenagers and a local firefighter were saved from a perilous cliff by a daring Coast Guard chopper mission.
The intense situation unfolded near Roads End Point in Lincoln County, where the teens found themselves stranded on a cliffside, as reported in a Coast Guard press release.
An MH-60 helicopter was deployed from the guardās Columbia River sector to reach the stranded individuals.
Video footage of the operation shows a Coast Guard member being lowered down to the cliff, securing each person separately, and safely airlifting them into the chopper.
The crew also rescued a member of the Lincoln County Fire Department who had become trapped while attempting to reach the teens earlier.
āOur air crews frequently train with our agency partner agencies to conduct these rescues in a variety of conditions and terrain in the Pacific Northwest,ā stated Amanda Denning, executive officer of the Coast Guard Air Station Astoria.
āWe are extremely happy that we were able to rescue the three individuals and transport them to safety.ā
All three individuals were transported to Siletz Bay State Airfield and then taken to a local hospital for further observation.
