Gunman Ambushes Border Patrol Agents In Texas

In a harrowing incident early Monday morning, a gunman launched an attack on Border Patrol agents stationed at an annex in McAllen, Texas, leaving at least two police officers and one Border Patrol employee injured.

According to a statement provided to Fox News by the Department of Homeland Security, a coordinated response from both Border Patrol agents and local law enforcement was pivotal in neutralizing the shooter.

This morning, an individual opened fire at the entrance of the United States Border Patrol sector annex in McAllen, Texas. The swift actions of Border Patrol agents and local police were crucial in neutralizing the shooter. Two officers and a Border Patrol employee sustained injuries, one of whom was shot in the knee. All three were promptly transported to the hospital. The FBI has launched an ongoing investigation into the incident.

In a separate but equally alarming incident, multiple suspects were arrested following a shooting that injured a police officer at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility in Alvarado, Texas, late on the Fourth of July.

Police Chief Victory Rodriguez addressed the media, revealing that “many dozens” of rounds were fired at the building, although the gunman did not breach the premises. “Border Patrol agents returned fire and ultimately neutralized, that is, killed, the individual who had initiated the attack on the building,” Chief Rodriguez stated.

The assailant, identified as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, 27, reportedly had ties to both Ludington, Michigan, and Weslaco, Texas, located approximately 16 miles east of McAllen, as reported by The New York Times.

A federal law enforcement source disclosing information to CBS News revealed that local police apprehended eight individuals, some of whom were found wearing body armor. Early reports indicate that a group of over a dozen masked individuals dressed in black vandalized vehicles and security cameras at the Prairieland ICE detention facility late Friday night.

These individuals reportedly initiated fireworks as a distraction to law enforcement, further complicating the situation.

“We are closely monitoring the attacks on DHS detention facilities in Prairieland, TX, and Portland, OR, and are coordinating with the USAOs and our law enforcement partners,” stated Justice Department Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in a social media update. “The Department has zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers or property and will pursue the full weight of the law against those responsible.”

These violent incidents unfold amid a climate of escalating rhetoric from congressional Democrats, many of whom have resorted to inflammatory comparisons, characterizing federal agents as akin to Nazis and terrorists.

“Our own base is telling us that what we’re doing is not good enough … [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public,” one lawmaker reportedly confided to Axios.

In a further chilling sentiment, another House Democrat noted that constituents have expressed that “civility isn’t working” and have called for readiness to engage in “violence … to fight to protect our democracy.”
