The beloved hospital comedy “Scrubs” is making a comeback on ABC for the 2025-2026 season. The planned reboot has been ordered straight-to-series, with original series star Zach Braff already on board. Joining him are fellow original cast members Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke, with more original cast members expected to return.

Creator Bill Lawrence expressed his excitement about bringing the band back together, stating, “‘Scrubs’ means so very much to me. So excited for the chance to get the band back together.”

The new “Scrubs” will follow JD (Braff) and Turk (Faison) as they scrub in together after a long time. The dynamic duo navigates the changes in medicine, interns, and Sacred Heart Hospital while maintaining their enduring bromance. The show promises laughter, heart, and surprises as old and new characters traverse the hospital’s corridors.

Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra will serve as executive producers and showrunners, with Lawrence, Braff, Faison, and Chalke also executive producing. The series is produced by 20th Television, with Lawrence working under his overall deal at Warner Bros. Television.

The original “Scrubs” aired on NBC from 2001-2008 before moving to ABC for its final two seasons. The single-cam comedy followed the lives of interns, doctors, nurses, and the Janitor at Sacred Heart Hospital. Alongside Braff, Faison, and Chalke, the cast included Judy Reyes, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley, and Neil Flynn.

ABC’s comedy lineup for 2025-2026 includes returning shows “Abbot Elementary” and “Shifting Gears,” along with the spinoff “9-1-1: Nashville.” The network also has the drama “RJ Decker” starring Scott Speedman in the works. With the revival of “Scrubs,” ABC is set to bring back a fan-favorite series and add more laughs to its programming.
