Google recently announced a new Pixel Drop for its Pixel smartphones and smartwatches, bringing a range of exciting features to its devices. While Google referred to it as a “surprise Pixel Drop,” the regularity of these updates may make the surprise element a bit misleading.
The July Pixel Drop includes several enhancements and additions to improve the user experience. One of the highlights is the introduction of Veo 3, Google’s AI video generation tool, to Pixel phones. This feature is available to users with a Google AI Pro or AI Ultra subscription. Those who purchased a Pixel 9 Pro will receive a complimentary one-year subscription to Veo 3. This tool allows users to input an idea and have it transformed into a highly realistic AI-generated video, complete with audio.
Another significant addition in the July Pixel Drop is the integration of Gemini on Pixel Watch wearables. Gemini, which enables users to make natural language requests for tasks like creating playlists and finding restaurants, replaces Google Assistant on Pixel Watches. This feature was long-awaited and is a welcome addition to the Pixel Watch lineup.
Additionally, Circle to Search has been upgraded with the introduction of AI Mode, allowing users to ask follow-up questions about on-screen information. This feature is currently available in the U.S. and India. Users can also utilize Circle to Search within games to access relevant articles and videos to assist them without leaving the game.
The July Pixel Update is expected to roll out soon, and users can check for it by navigating to System > Software updates on their Pixel devices. With these new features and enhancements, Google continues to improve the functionality and usability of its Pixel devices, providing users with a more seamless and enjoyable experience.
