In a recent segment on CNN, data analyst Harry Enten expressed genuine astonishment while discussing American attitudes toward climate change. His findings revealed that a significant portion of the populace—Democrats included—exhibits a surprising lack of concern regarding this pressing issue.

Enten referenced data spanning several decades, highlighting a stagnation in the percentage of individuals expressing serious worry about climate change. While politicians, particularly those on the Democratic side, are likely to continue championing climate initiatives, the reality is that this has evolved into a multifaceted industry—complete with its own ecosystem of stakeholders profiting handsomely from the narrative.

Here’s a snippet from his segment, which was highlighted by RedState:

“Americans AREN’T afraid of climate change!” Enten remarked, visibly perplexed. “Climate activists have not successfully made the case to the American people!”

He noted that in 1989, only 35 percent of respondents reported being greatly alarmed about climate change. Fast forward to 2000, that figure rose slightly to 39 percent, and then to 40 percent five years later. A decade later, in 2020, it peaked at 46 percent, only to revert back to 40 percent in 2025—essentially mirroring the statistic from 2000.

“We’ve tracked this since 1989; look at that, it was 35 percent,” Enten stated. “In 2000, it jumped to 40 percent. By 2020, it reached 46 percent, but here we are in 2025, back to 40 percent—just like 2000.”

“Despite the barrage of extreme weather events, the percentage of Americans who are deeply concerned about climate change has remained remarkably stable,” he added, sounding genuinely bewildered. “This is somewhat mind-boggling when you consider the barrage of information we receive daily—from our televisions and computers.”

“Hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding,” Enten continued. “Yet, the level of concern about climate change remains at 40 percent, the same as it was in 2000.”

You can catch the full context in the video—it’s somewhat amusing:

Climate activists have failed to make the case on climate change.

Despite all the bad weather, just 40% of Americans are greatly worried about climate change. The same as in 2000.

This trend isn’t entirely surprising when you consider the historical context.

Even prominent climate activist Greta Thunberg appears to have shifted her focus, now advocating for the far-left ‘free Palestine’ movement, indicating a broader reallocation of priorities within activist circles.
