SpaceX to Invest $2 Billion in Elon Musk’s AI Startup xAI
Elon Musk’s business ventures continue to intersect as SpaceX, his aerospace company, is reportedly set to make a significant investment in his AI startup, xAI.
According to a recent report by the Wall Street Journal, SpaceX has agreed to invest $2 billion in xAI. This investment is part of a larger equity raise of $5 billion, along with an additional $5 billion in debt, announced by Morgan Stanley in June.
This strategic investment marks SpaceX’s first foray into xAI and is set to be one of its most substantial investments in another company to date. The report suggests that SpaceX is already leveraging xAI’s chatbot, Grok, to enhance customer service for its Starlink internet service, with plans for further collaborations in the future.
Elon Musk has a history of integrating his various companies to complement each other’s operations. Earlier this year, xAI was merged with X, formerly known as Twitter, under Musk’s guidance. Despite recent controversies surrounding Grok, including instances of antisemitic comments made by the chatbot, Tesla is moving forward with integrating Grok into its vehicles.
