Trump Comments on Bongino Following Controversy

In a recent press interaction, President Trump revealed he had a conversation with FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, amidst swirling rumors regarding a contentious incident related to the handling of documents associated with Jeffrey Epstein.

It was reported on Friday that Bongino took a leave of absence after a heated exchange with Attorney General Pam Bondi about how the Epstein files were managed. The clash came on the heels of a two-page memo released by the FBI and DOJ that concluded Epstein did not possess a “client list” and that his death was a suicide.

“Bongino failed to show up for work on Friday, prompting speculation about his status,” stated a source familiar with the sentiments of DOJ leadership, who added that Bongino may be contemplating resignation in light of Bondi’s continued presence in the Department of Justice, as reported by NBC News.

This confrontation reportedly took place during a meeting on Wednesday, involving Bondi and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. During this meeting, Bongino and Kash Patel were questioned about a news report that suggested dissatisfaction with the decision to withhold additional Epstein documents from public release.

Furthermore, the memo indicated that no further Epstein-related documents would be made public.

By the end of Friday, numerous outlets reported that Bongino was considering resignation if Bondi remained at her post.

Trump’s Response Following the Incident

On Sunday, President Trump took a moment to address reporters after attending the FIFA Club World Cup Finals, where he was asked about Bongino’s well-being. Trump expressed that Bongino was “sounding terrific” and assured the press that he was in “good shape.”

“I spoke to him today. Dan Bongino is a very good guy. I’ve known him a long time,” Trump stated, reassuringly.

Trump Takes to Social Media

On Saturday afternoon, Trump ignited a fervor on social media with a post regarding the clash between Bongino and Bondi. In his statement, he questioned the motives behind the criticisms aimed at Attorney General Bondi, praising her performance and expressing discontent with the discord among his team.

“What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’ They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and ‘selfish people’ are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein,” Trump wrote, lamenting the persistent focus on Epstein.

He further criticized the attention given to historical documents related to Epstein, suggesting that they were concocted by the political left, while urging Bongino and Patel to concentrate on issues like voter fraud and political corruption instead of rehashing old narratives about Epstein.

“LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT!” Trump emphasized, reinforcing his support for the Attorney General’s investigations into the 2020 election and other matters. He concluded that the country was on the verge of unprecedented achievements and urged his supporters not to be sidetracked by Epstein-related distractions.

“Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he added, closing his lengthy statement.
