Dave Navarro Sues Perry Farrell For Assault and Battery, Band Demands $10 Million

Published on July 16, 2025 at 10:02 AM PDT

Dave Navarro has taken legal action against Perry Farrell, accusing him of assault and battery. Navarro, along with his Jane’s Addiction bandmates Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins, filed a lawsuit against Farrell on Wednesday. The lawsuit stems from an altercation that took place onstage in September 2024, which resulted in the cancellation of their North American tour and delayed album release.

Video footage obtained from a show on September 13, 2024, captured Farrell and Navarro engaging in a physical altercation on stage. The conflict reportedly escalated backstage, where Farrell allegedly punched Navarro in the face. Navarro, who has a history of trauma from a violent incident during his teenage years, found the altercation particularly distressing.

As a result of the fight, the band was forced to cancel 15 shows and put their album on hold, leading to significant financial losses. Navarro claims that the band was already facing issues prior to the incident, as Farrell had threatened to quit multiple times and pressured Navarro to postpone his wedding in Scotland to accommodate additional tour dates.

In response to the lawsuit, Farrell’s wife, Etty, revealed that he sought medical consultations with a neurologist and an otolaryngologist following the altercation. Navarro and his bandmates are suing Farrell for assault and battery, as well as emotional distress, negligence, breach of contract, and more. They are seeking a minimum of $10 million in damages.

Despite attempts to reach out to Perry Farrell for comment, there has been no response thus far. The legal battle between Navarro and Farrell continues, shedding light on the internal turmoil within Jane’s Addiction.
