YouTube is making its debut appearance at Mipcom Cannes, the renowned international television showcase, to celebrate its 20-year anniversary with a series of exciting activations. The inclusion of YouTube at Mipcom is part of the event’s focus on highlighting the creator economy, which will be the central theme of this year’s 41st edition.
One of the highlights of YouTube’s participation at Mipcom will be the YouTube Space located at the Palais des Festivals, along with a keynote by Pedro Pina, the VP of YouTube EMEA, daily workshops, and hosted events. This move underscores YouTube’s commitment to fostering international TV collaborations and supporting media companies in the ever-evolving landscape of content consumption.
Mipcom will also feature a range of events focusing on the creator economy, bringing together digital creators, television producers, platforms, and distributors. The event will host the first local edition of BrandStorytelling, a popular event from the Sundance Film Festival, as well as expand on the success of the innovation lab introduced last year. Panels will cover topics such as AI, FAST, streaming, and connected TV, with a new workshop series in collaboration with YouTube covering audience engagement, monetization strategies, and content formats.
Lucy Smith, Mipcom Cannes and Mipjunior director, emphasized the significance of YouTube’s presence at the event, noting that 2025 is poised to be the year of the ‘global creator economy.’ She highlighted the event’s role as a global platform that brings together content creators, digital studios, platforms, and brands with leading figures in television and streaming entertainment from around the world.
Mipcom Cannes is set to take place from October 13-16, offering attendees a unique opportunity to engage with industry experts, discover the latest trends in content creation and distribution, and forge valuable partnerships in the ever-evolving landscape of the entertainment industry.
