In an intense match at Forsyth Barr Stadium, Kaikorai emerged victorious with a 46-41 win over Harbour to secure the Championship Shield. The game was filled with thrilling moments, especially as Harbour managed to score two late tries to add some drama to the proceedings.

However, it was Kaikorai who set the tone for the match with two quick tries in the third quarter, giving them a crucial lead of 22-17 at halftime. Despite Harbour’s dominance in the scrums, Kaikorai’s strategic play allowed them to find gaps and crash over for three tries.

Openside Slade McDowall stood out with a stellar performance, while Ben Miller’s precise tactical kicking played a key role in putting Kaikorai in advantageous positions. On the other hand, Harbour struggled with their attacking lineouts, failing to execute effectively in that aspect of the game.

After Harbour leveled the score early in the second half with a try from Aleki Morris-Lome, Kaikorai quickly responded with a try from fullback Charlie Breen. The momentum continued in Kaikorai’s favor as Otago lock Will Tucker set up McDowall for another try, seemingly sealing the game.

However, Harbour fought back valiantly with two late tries from replacement winger Mone Samate-Palu. Despite their efforts, Kaikorai’s lead proved insurmountable, securing the win.
