Unsuspecting Solar Panels Conceal Nearly 300 Pounds of Meth
US Customs and Border Protection recently made a startling discovery at Los Angeles International Airport – nearly 300 pounds of methamphetamine cleverly hidden within a shipment of solar panels.
The officers at the airport intercepted the illegal shipment on Monday morning and uncovered the illicit drugs disguised as green energy equipment. The agency took to social media to share the news and took a jab at the unsuccessful drug traffickers.
Photos from the bust showed CBP officers dismantling the solar panels to reveal neatly packaged bricks of meth concealed inside the aluminum-lined panels.
Intelligence Leads to Interception
The high-energy shipment was intended for New Zealand, but thanks to prior intelligence, officials were able to intercept it before it left the country.
Despite the successful bust, no arrests were announced in connection with the operation. CBP continues its efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking with determination and flair.
Just last week, the agency made headlines for mocking an alleged illegal alien apprehended in Buffalo, New York, who was wearing an American flag T-shirt.
