The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G has recently made an appearance on a popular benchmarking tool, shedding light on some of the key specifications of the budget-friendly smartphone. This unveiling also suggests that the new model will address some of the shortcomings of its predecessor.

The Geekbench listing, shared by user Abhishek Yadav, showcases a phone identified as the Samsung SM-A176B, also known as the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G. While the benchmark scores of 942 for single-core performance and 2137 for multi-core performance may not be groundbreaking, it’s important to remember that this is a budget device that is still in the optimization phase.

One of the most notable revelations from the benchmark listing is the presence of an Exynos 1380 processor in the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G. This chipset represents a modest upgrade from the Exynos 1330 found in the previous model, the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G. Interestingly, the Exynos 1380 was previously featured in the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G and the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G, showcasing Samsung’s strategy of repurposing older budget chips for newer models.

Accompanying the processor is 6GB of RAM, a significant 50% increase from the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G. While the device may not be a speed demon based on the benchmark results, the additional RAM should provide a smoother overall user experience compared to its predecessor.

Furthermore, the Geekbench listing confirms that the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G will run on Android 15 with One UI 7, foregoing the latest One UI 8 at launch.

In terms of specifications, previous leaks have hinted at some exciting upgrades for the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G. The device is expected to feature an improved 8MP ultra-wide camera, a step up from the 5MP sensor on the previous model. Additionally, the 50MP main camera may come equipped with OIS (optical image stabilization) for enhanced image clarity, particularly in low-light conditions. The possibility of 4K video recording being included is also on the cards.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G appears to be a promising budget smartphone that addresses some of the weaknesses of its predecessor while offering notable upgrades in key areas such as processing power, camera capabilities, and overall performance. With its combination of affordability and essential features, the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is poised to attract budget-conscious consumers looking for a reliable and capable device.
