Businesses in Chicago have been put on high alert following a series of overnight burglaries that have left storefronts damaged and cash stolen. The perpetrators, typically two to four men dressed in black clothing and masks, have been targeting businesses in various neighborhoods, including Lawndale, Austin, Humboldt Park, West Town, and the Near North Side.

The modus operandi of these thieves involves arriving in a vehicle, breaking windows or glass doors using a blunt object, and quickly looting cash registers or prying open ATMs before making a swift getaway. The spree of burglaries began in early June and has continued to escalate, with most incidents occurring in the early morning hours.

Listed below are the reported incidents:

– June 2, 3:36 AM – 3900 block of West Ogden St.
– June 6, 2:12 AM – 5600 block of West Roosevelt Rd.
– June 6, 3:05 AM – 5100 block of West Grand Ave.
– July 7, 3:18 AM – 5300 block of West Division St.
– July 7, 4:04 AM – 5800 block of West Roosevelt Rd.
– July 7, 10:00 AM – 3600 block of West 16th St.
– July 20, 5:13 AM – 1600 block of West North Ave.
– July 21, 2:40 AM – 800 block of North Orleans St.
– July 21, 4:28 AM – 300 block of West Chicago Ave.
– July 22, 5:00 AM – 5400 block of West Madison St.

Business owners have been cautioned not to confront the suspects and to preserve any surveillance footage for investigators. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police at 312-746-8253 or submit an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com, referencing case #25-CWP-022C.
