During a recent podcast, New York City resident and comedian Michael Rapaport came up with a new nickname for democratic socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, calling him “Zohran the Moron.” Rapaport made it clear that he has no plans to leave the city even if Mamdani wins the election.
Concerns have been raised by Jewish New Yorkers regarding Mamdani’s positions on Israel, particularly his refusal to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada.” Mamdani later stated that he would not use the phrase and would discourage others from doing so.
Business leaders are also wary of Mamdani’s proposed policies, including a rent freeze. Rapaport, who has been vocal about his support for Israel, urged New Yorkers not to be swayed by Mamdani’s socialist agenda.
Mamdani, a Ugandan-born Muslim Assemblyman from Queens, defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo to secure the Democratic Party’s mayoral nomination.
Rapaport expressed his commitment to staying in New York City, despite the potential financial implications of Mamdani’s policies. He emphasized the need for New Yorkers to take responsibility for the city’s future.
Since winning the Democratic primary race, Rapaport has been outspoken in his criticism of Mamdani. In an interview with NewsNation, he expressed disbelief at the possibility of someone like Mamdani becoming mayor of New York City.
Mamdani did not respond to requests for comment.
