Google Pixel Watch 4 Leaked with a New Wireless Charging Dock

We are just weeks away from Google’s highly anticipated launch event, and leaked renders of the Pixel Watch 4 have recently surfaced, giving us a glimpse of what to expect.

The Pixel Watch 4 is scheduled to debut alongside the Pixel 10 series of phones on August 20th, and with the latest leaks, there seems to be little left to the imagination. Android Headlines has managed to obtain renders and details of the upcoming Pixel devices, including the Pixel Watch 4.

According to the leaked renders, the Pixel Watch 4 sports a design that closely resembles its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 3. However, there are some notable changes beyond just the aesthetics. The smartwatch will be available in four colors – Black, Silver, Gold, and Moonstone – and will come with a wide range of new bands in colors like Indigo, Limoncello, Iris, and Moonstone, many of which complement the Pixel 10 phones.

One of the key updates revealed by Android Headlines is the new wireless charging system on the Pixel Watch 4. Unlike most competitors or previous Pixel Watch models, the Pixel Watch 4 will charge on its side. Instead of a circular puck attaching to the back with magnets, the watch will feature two metal contacts on the opposite side of the digital crown, allowing users to simply place it into the charging dock. This design is reminiscent of the Motorola Moto 360 charging docks, signaling a comeback for the 2025 model.

The new charging system has both advantages and disadvantages, depending on user preferences. On the positive side, it could mean 25% faster charging than before and offers a more streamlined solution for charging on a desk or bedside table while also serving as a clock. Additionally, this change may make the Pixel Watch 4 more repairable in case of screen damage, providing a potential lifeline for users. However, fans hoping for Qi wireless charging compatibility may be disappointed, as the official dock will be required for charging rather than using a wide range of Qi-compatible chargers.
