Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge Tipped for Bigger Battery and Thinner Body

Samsung has taken note of the feedback about its Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone and is rumored to be addressing the main criticism with its successor. According to renowned tipster Ice Universe, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge will be thinner than its predecessor and will feature a larger battery capacity, thanks to new battery material technology.

In a recent tweet, Ice Universe confirmed that the Galaxy S26 Edge will indeed be thinner than the S25 Edge and will boast a bigger battery. This comes as welcome news for users who were disappointed by the mediocre battery life of the Galaxy S25 Edge, as highlighted in our review earlier this year.

The main issue with the Galaxy S25 Edge was its slim design, which forced Samsung to compromise on battery capacity in order to achieve a sleek 5.8mm profile. The phone featured a 3900mAh battery, smaller than even the compact Samsung Galaxy S25. This resulted in subpar battery life, especially for users with heavy usage patterns.

With Samsung’s reluctance to embrace silicon-carbon battery technology, which has enabled competitors like OnePlus to offer larger battery capacities, the Galaxy S25 Edge fell short in terms of battery performance. However, if Ice Universe’s claims are accurate, Samsung may finally be ready to adopt new battery material technology to improve battery life in the Galaxy S26 Edge.

While the focus seems to be on enhancing the Edge variant, Samsung is reportedly maintaining the status quo for its flagship Ultra series. Ice Universe mentioned that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will retain the 5000mAh battery capacity seen in previous models. However, there is some good news for Ultra fans, as reports suggest that the S26 Ultra will introduce faster charging speeds exceeding the 45W limit.

In conclusion, Samsung appears to be addressing the shortcomings of the Galaxy S25 Edge with the upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge, offering a thinner design and a larger battery capacity. With advancements in battery technology and potential improvements in charging speeds, Samsung is poised to deliver a more compelling flagship smartphone experience with the Galaxy S26 series.
