Happiness is contagious, or at least that’s the premise of the intriguing new sci-fi series “Pluribus” created by Vince Gilligan, the mastermind behind “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul.” The show is set to premiere with two episodes on Apple TV+ on November 7, with the first season concluding on December 26 and a second season already in the works.
“Pluribus” reunites Gilligan with Rhea Seehorn, known for her role as Kim Wexler in “Better Call Saul.” In this new series, Seehorn plays Carol, described as “the most miserable person on Earth” who is tasked with saving the world from happiness. While details about the plot remain scarce, the premise promises an intriguing and unique storyline.
Joining Seehorn in the cast are Karolina Wydra, Carlos-Manuel Vesga, Miriam Shor, and Samba Schutte in guest roles. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and executive produced by Gilligan, along with a team of talented individuals including Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, and Diane Mercer.
In a cryptic teaser for the show, a woman in pink scrubs is seen licking donuts before placing them back in a box labeled “Help yourself” with a smiley face, hinting at the mysterious and potentially dark tone of the series. Gilligan has teased that “Pluribus” will be a departure from his previous work, with no crime or methamphetamine involved, but rather a sudden and dramatic change in the world setting the stage for the unfolding drama.
Despite being Gilligan’s first project outside of the “Breaking Bad” universe in 17 years, “Pluribus” promises to deliver the same level of suspense and intrigue that fans have come to expect from the acclaimed creator. With a talented cast and a captivating premise, the series is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Stay tuned for the premiere of “Pluribus” on Apple TV+ and prepare to embark on a thrilling and thought-provoking journey into a world where happiness may not be all that it seems.
