WWE paid tribute to the legendary Hulk Hogan on this week’s episode of “SmackDown,” honoring the iconic wrestler who passed away at the age of 71 on Thursday. The broadcast opened with a touching segment featuring a multitude of WWE stars and personnel gathered at the top of the “SmackDown” entrance ramp. Alongside current stars like Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu, WWE legends including Jimmy Hart and Sgt. Slaughter were also present to pay their respects.

The crowd erupted in chants of “Hogan” as WWE chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque took the mic to address the audience. Levesque spoke fondly of Hogan, acknowledging him as a global icon who had inspired millions of fans around the world. A somber moment followed as a ten bell salute rang out in the arena, honoring Hogan’s legacy. A heartfelt tribute video showcasing highlights from Hogan’s illustrious career was then played, narrated by Levesque.

Hogan, born Terry Bollea, played a pivotal role in shaping WWE (formerly WWF) into the powerhouse it is today. As the face of the company during its transition from a regional promotion to a national phenomenon in the 1980s, Hogan headlined multiple WrestleManias and held the WWE Heavyweight Championship six times. His larger-than-life persona and catchphrase “train, say your prayers, and eat your vitamins” endeared him to fans worldwide.

Throughout his career, Hogan faced off against a roster of memorable opponents including Andre the Giant, Roddy Piper, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He also made a significant impact in WCW during the 1990s, reinventing himself as Hollywood Hulk Hogan and joining the villainous New World Order faction.

Tragically, Hogan’s life was cut short when he passed away from cardiac arrest on Thursday morning, as confirmed by the Clearwater Police Department in Florida. Despite his untimely death, Hogan’s influence on the world of professional wrestling and entertainment will forever be remembered and cherished by fans and colleagues alike.

The wrestling community has come together to mourn the loss of a true legend, celebrating Hogan’s contributions to the industry and his lasting impact on generations of fans. As we bid farewell to Hulk Hogan, we reflect on his remarkable career and the indelible mark he has left on the world of sports entertainment. Rest in peace, Hulkster.
