Chicago Police Search for Gunmen After McDonald’s Robbery in Lincoln Square Neighborhood

Chicago police were on high alert in the Lincoln Square neighborhood on Saturday afternoon following a brazen robbery at a local McDonald’s restaurant. The incident occurred at the McDonald’s located at 4844 North Lincoln Avenue, where two armed gunmen wearing black hoodies and masks stormed into the establishment and held employees at gunpoint while they collected proceeds.

According to witnesses, the robbery took place around 3:40 p.m. Shortly before the robbery, a 911 caller reported two suspicious individuals in the vicinity, raising their hoodies in an alley south of Lawrence and Campbell before heading towards the restaurant. The suspects were described as two young White or Hispanic males wearing black hoodies with white writing, black masks, and black gym shoes. One of the suspects wore black pants, while the other wore gray pants.

After the robbery, the gunmen were seen fleeing the scene on foot. Despite several reported sightings, no arrests had been made as of Saturday evening. In response to the incident, Alderman Andre Vasquez (40th) announced that police had established a perimeter in the area and urged residents to avoid the vicinity bounded by California Avenue, Ainslie Street, Washtenaw Avenue, and Lawrence Avenue. He also provided the contact information for detectives working on the case: 312-744-8261.

The search for the suspects continued throughout the evening as law enforcement officers combed the neighborhood for any leads. The community remained on edge as authorities worked tirelessly to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the safety of residents in the area.
