The Department of Government Efficiency Plans to Cut Federal Regulations Using AI Tool

The Department of Government Efficiency is set to revolutionize the federal government by using a new AI tool to eliminate half of its regulatory mandates, as reported by The Washington Post.

According to a PowerPoint presentation dated July 1, the DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool will analyze approximately 200,000 federal regulations to identify those no longer required by law. The goal is to eliminate half of these regulations by the first anniversary of President Donald Trump’s return to office.

Recent reports suggest that the implementation of this tool is already in progress. The presentation highlights the tool’s use in reviewing regulations at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and drafting “100% of deregulations” at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

A spokesperson from the White House acknowledged the efforts of the DOGE team, describing them as “the best and brightest in the business.” However, they clarified that no specific plan has been approved or finalized yet.

This AI tool is just one of many innovations developed by DOGE, spearheaded by Elon Musk during the early months of the Trump administration. Previous tools, such as one linked to error-prone outcomes, have aimed to streamline processes within the government.
