The Aurora Police Department apprehended Roiberth Daniel Mora-Marquez, a 23-year-old known member of the Tren de Aragua gang, who was wanted on two warrants, as announced on social media.

Mora-Marquez’s arrest adds to a series of gang-related apprehensions in Aurora following online rumors fueled by viral videos and right-wing influencers claiming Venezuelan gangs had seized control of buildings in the city.

Facing charges in Adams District Court for aggravated first-degree assault, second-degree kidnapping, third-degree assault, and felony menacing related to an incident over unpaid rent on April 4, Mora-Marquez was taken into custody on April 17. Although released on a $20,000 bond earlier, a warrant was issued when he failed to appear in court.

Additionally, Mora-Marquez was arrested on charges from a June 28 shooting in the 400 block of Nile Street, including felony menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm, harassment, and reckless endangerment. Aurora police revealed Mora-Marquez as one of 10 Venezuelan gang members earlier and confirmed his current detention without bond at the Aurora Detention Center.

His arrest marks the incarceration of seven Tren de Aragua gang members by the Aurora Police Department. Former President Donald Trump’s announcement of plans to visit Aurora and Springfield, Ohio, amidst concerns about their safety was also referenced in the article.
