Wesley LePatner, a beloved trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a respected executive at Blackstone, tragically lost her life in a senseless act of violence. The recent shooting incident in a Midtown Manhattan office building on July 28 claimed the lives of four individuals, including LePatner.

LePatner, a dedicated supporter of the arts, was elected as a trustee of The Met earlier this year. She was actively involved in the Friends of European Paintings group at the museum, showcasing her passion for cultural preservation and philanthropy.

Max Hollein, Director of The Met, fondly remembers LePatner as a remarkable individual with a profound sense of empathy and commitment. Her untimely departure has left a void in the art world that will be deeply felt for years to come.

With a background in finance, LePatner’s journey from Goldman Sachs to becoming the CEO of Blackstone Real Estate’s Investment Committee is a testament to her exceptional leadership and business acumen. Her contributions to both the financial and cultural sectors have left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing her.

The tragic events also claimed the lives of other innocent individuals, including security guard Aland Etienne, off-duty police officer Didarul Islam, and a Rudin Management employee. The perpetrator, identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura, targeted the National Football League offices in the building, leading to this devastating loss of life.

Wesley LePatner’s legacy will forever be remembered by those she inspired and touched through her work in both the art and finance worlds. Her absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
