Authorities are currently searching for two individuals who allegedly rammed a vehicle into U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers during an operation near Colorado Springs. The incident occurred on Thursday, and an ICE officer fired three shots at the vehicle. The suspects, who are believed to be in the country illegally, fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Following the incident, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter-in-place order for the 9900 block of Burgess Road and the surrounding area in Black Forest. Residents were advised to secure their homes or businesses and avoid doors and windows. Additionally, Black Forest Road near Burgess Road has been closed by sheriff’s officials.
An ICE spokesperson stated that federal immigration officers have observed an 830% increase in assaults, highlighting the dangers faced by law enforcement officials in carrying out their duties.
