Denver International Airport experienced significant disruptions on Saturday as severe thunderstorms led to the delay or cancellation of hundreds of flights. The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop at 2:40 p.m. due to the stormy weather conditions, grounding all airplanes for over two hours.

According to the FAA, the ground delay caused flights to be delayed by more than two hours on average. By 5:30 p.m., more than 700 flights had been affected, as reported by the flight tracking website FlightAware.

Among the delays, Southwest Airlines reported 219, United reported 232, and SkyWest reported 114. Additionally, there were 68 canceled flights, with SkyWest accounting for 55 of them.
