Authorities in Idaho were led on a three-hour search for what was believed to be a body in the Blackfoot River, only to discover a life-size sex doll instead.
Caribou County Sheriff Adam Mabey informed East Idaho News that deputies received a report of human remains in the river, prompting a drone search and a deployment of a search-and-rescue team.
After retrieving the object from the water, it was confirmed that it was a female sex doll that had been floating in the river for some time. The circumstances of how it ended up in the river remain unclear.
The person responsible for dumping the doll could face littering charges if caught, according to reports.
Sheriff Mabey acknowledged the humorous aspect of the situation, stating that even though it turned out to be a false alarm, he prefers to take all necessary measures in such cases. He expressed surprise at the attention the story has received but recognized its unique nature.
The Caribou County Sheriff’s Office did not provide any further comments on the incident.
