LOS ANGELES — Loni Anderson, known for her role as Jennifer Marlowe on the popular TV show “WKRP in Cincinnati,” passed away on Sunday, just days before her 80th birthday. She died at a Los Angeles hospital after battling a prolonged illness, as confirmed by her publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan.

Anderson’s family released a statement expressing their heartbreak over the loss of their beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. “WKRP in Cincinnati” aired from 1978 to 1982, portraying a struggling radio station in Ohio. Anderson’s character, Jennifer Marlowe, was the empowered receptionist who played a pivotal role in keeping the station afloat.

Her performance on the show earned her multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Anderson also starred in films, including the 1983 comedy “Stroker Ace” alongside Burt Reynolds, whom she later married. Their relationship was highly publicized before their eventual split in 1994.

Anderson chronicled their marriage in her autobiography, “My Life in High Heels,” where she candidly shared the highs and lows of their time together. Despite the challenges, Anderson reflected on the joy of having their son, Quinton Reynolds.

Throughout her career, Anderson appeared in various TV shows and movies, showcasing her talent and versatility. She continued to act in projects like Lifetime’s “Ladies Of The 80s: A Divas Christmas” in 2023.

Friends and colleagues, like actress Morgan Fairchild, expressed their sorrow over Anderson’s passing. Fairchild described Anderson as a kind and gracious person, deeply saddened by the news.

Anderson leaves behind her husband Bob Flick, daughter Deidra, son Quinton Anderson Reynolds, and several grandchildren. A private family service will be held at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
