The Frick Collection in New York City recently underwent a $220 million makeover and has reopened its doors to the public. To promote the newly renovated museum, comedian Steve Martin was enlisted to create a video tour of the museum, which was shared on the Frick’s website and social media platforms.

In the video, Martin takes viewers on a whimsical journey through the Gilded Age mansion, sharing a brief history of the museum and its founder, Henry Clay Frick. From admiring a 15th-century Hercules sculpture to highlighting the beauty of the museum’s collection of Old Master paintings and decorative arts, Martin’s narration adds a touch of humor to the experience.

During the five-year renovation, the museum temporarily housed its collection in the Marcel Breuer building on Madison Avenue before returning to its original Fifth Avenue location in April. Since reopening, over 231,000 visitors have explored the updated Frick Collection, immersing themselves in the beauty and awe of the museum’s treasures.

Martin’s involvement in promoting the Frick Collection was a natural choice, as he is a longtime member and fan of the museum and a prominent figure in New York City. Additionally, his passion for art collecting, which includes works by renowned artists like Picasso and Francis Bacon, adds a personal touch to his role as the museum’s ambassador.

While some may question Martin’s suitability as the face of the Frick Collection, his experience portraying Inspector Jacques Clouseau in “The Pink Panther” brings a unique charm to his latest endeavor. As visitors continue to flock to the museum to appreciate its treasures, Martin’s engaging tour serves as a delightful introduction to the world of art and culture housed within the historic walls of the Frick Collection.
