The latest art installation by Lucy Sparrow, titled Bourdon Street Chippy, is a whimsical and nostalgic take on traditional British fish and chip shops. Located in London and presented by Lyndsey Ingram Gallery, the exhibition features a menu filled with felt versions of classic dishes like fried cod, red saveloy sausage, and chip butties. Everything from the pickled eggs to the battered haddock is meticulously crafted in soft fiber, creating a playful and inviting atmosphere.

Visitors to Bourdon Street Chippy can enjoy handmade banquette seating, peruse fabric menus, and even order takeaway directly from the artist. The installation includes over 65,000 individual felt pieces, including 15 different colored chip shapes. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the chippy, from the sewn portraits of famous patrons to the wall-to-wall gallery showcasing Sparrow’s unique creations.

While the scampi and chips may not be edible, the experience of stepping into this felt fish and chip shop is sure to transport visitors to a nostalgic and whimsical place. The exhibition runs until September 14th, giving art enthusiasts plenty of time to explore Sparrow’s imaginative world. For more information, visit the artist’s website and Instagram for a closer look at this one-of-a-kind installation.

Whether you’re a fan of traditional British fare or simply appreciate the artistry of Lucy Sparrow, Bourdon Street Chippy is a must-see exhibition that brings a touch of whimsy to everyday life. So why not step into this felt world of fish and chips and indulge in a unique and delightful artistic experience?
