Apple has just rolled out the sixth developer beta of iOS 26, its upcoming mobile operating system, as well as updates for iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, Mac, and other devices. While the changes in this beta may not be as significant as in previous versions, there are still some surprises in store for users.

One unexpected addition in beta 6 is the introduction of six new ringtones, all variations of the popular “reflection” tune. The standout among these new tones is the “Dreamer” ringtone, which has already garnered praise on social media for being “hard,” “crazy good,” and “such a bop.” This addition may even entice users to switch off silent mode on their devices.

In addition to the new ringtones, beta 6 also brings a resolution to the controversial change to the Camera app. In prior betas, Apple had altered the way the Camera mode switcher responded to touch, causing frustration among users who found it difficult to adjust. However, in response to feedback, Apple has reverted the scroll direction back to its original setting in this latest beta release.

Other notable updates in iOS 26 beta 6 include faster transitions and new open and close animations for launching apps. The Liquid Glass user interface has also been refined for improved readability and a more visually appealing experience. Changes such as added color dispersion when transitioning between app tabs and Liquid Glass effects on the Lock Screen and toggles enhance the overall aesthetic of the interface.

Users updating to iOS 26 beta 6 will also encounter a new startup/onboarding experience that introduces them to Liquid Glass and other features of the operating system. This experience highlights the dark and clear icons, as well as redesigned interfaces in various apps.

While beta releases typically come with bug fixes, users may still encounter new issues as Apple continues to refine the software. However, overall feedback suggests that beta 6 is more stable and faster than previous releases, indicating that Apple is nearing the public launch of iOS 26.

For those testing the public beta, an update can be expected soon to align with the developer beta release. As Apple fine-tunes iOS 26, users can look forward to experiencing the new features and improvements in the upcoming public launch.
