The ATP World No. 1, Carlos Alcaraz, recently shared his thoughts on the golf skills of legendary Swiss player Roger Federer. Alcaraz, who has an impressive 23 ATP Tour singles titles under his belt, added another major title by winning the US Open after defeating Jannik Sinner in the final. As he gears up for the 2025 Laver Cup, Alcaraz is part of Team Europe alongside top players like Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud, Holger Rune, Flavio Cobolli, and Jakub Mensik.

During a friendly golf session in San Francisco ahead of the tournament, Alcaraz teamed up with Mensik to defeat Team World’s Alex Michelsen and Taylor Fritz in the doubles category match. In a post-match interview, Alcaraz praised Roger Federer’s golf skills, acknowledging the finesse and style with which Federer approaches the game.

Speaking about his experience playing alongside Federer, Alcaraz said, “Roger [Federer] is pretty good actually, you know… No, no, I’m being honest. It is crazy that everything he does, he does with great style. His swing is really beautiful. The level he has, it’s quite good. I would say it’s better than mine. His handicap is better than mine actually.”

Looking ahead to his next match, Alcaraz is set to face off against World No. 5, Taylor Fritz. Meanwhile, Roger Federer shared his insights on the upcoming Laver Cup, highlighting Team Europe’s challenges and advantages. Federer noted that while the West Coast can be a tricky place for European players due to travel and jet lag, he believes that Team Europe, with players like Alcaraz, has the edge in San Francisco.

Federer expressed his confidence in Team Europe’s singles lineup, stating, “So, it’s going to come down to the singles, I think with Carlos Alcaraz on the team and ready to go, I give Europe the edge here in San Francisco to take it home.” Alcaraz, who made his Laver Cup debut in 2024 and helped Team Europe secure their fifth title, is expected to play a crucial role in the team’s success this year.

As the excitement builds for the 2025 Laver Cup, fans can look forward to thrilling matches and fierce competition between the top players in the world. With Alcaraz and Federer leading the charge for their respective teams, the tournament promises to showcase some of the best tennis talent on display.
