At 67, Lauer has yet to find a path back to television following his 2017 firing from NBC amidst disturbing sexual misconduct allegations. Insiders are disclosing that he is currently engaged in serious discussions to write a memoir that will expose the truth behind his controversial exit.

“Matt has been searching for a comeback since his termination, but opportunities haven’t materialized, and he’s become frustrated,” shared an insider.

“While some acquaintances have spoken positively of him, including industry pals like Don Lemon and Hoda Kotb, offers for redemption remain nonexistent.”

The source reveals that Lauer, who claims to have acted appropriately, has engaged in “promising discussions” with executives from streaming platforms and podcast producers during meetings over lunch in the upscale Hamptons.

However, they noted that “no agreements have come to fruition, and right now, his best option is to share his narrative.”

Furthermore, the insider indicated that Lauer is keeping his plans close to the chest as he navigates potential deals aimed at lucrative payouts.
