As Israel escalated its airstrike campaign, at least 14 Palestinians lost their lives, forcing many to flee Gaza City. Evacuating civilians carried their belongings as they moved south through corridors established by the Israeli military. Humanitarian groups have voiced that such mass displacements are exacerbating Ukraine’s critical aid crisis. Famine has been officially declared, with essential services such as water, electricity, and internet still disrupted. Gaza’s Health Ministry reports over 65,000 fatalities since the outbreak of conflict nearly two years ago.

In Israel, citizens gathered in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, demanding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu negotiate an end to the ongoing war and work towards securing the release of the 48 hostages still held by Hamas, most of whom are not believed to be alive. Protesters displayed a massive black banner urging intervention from President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, struggling families of hostages accused Netanyahu of prolonging the hostility for political gain. UNICEF has reported that four aid trucks delivering emergency food for malnourished children were looted in Gaza City, a setback that the U.N. indicated could seriously hinder relief efforts. Over the weekend, countries like the UK, Australia, and Canada acknowledged Palestine as a state, citing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as a catalyst for their decisions.
