Stellantis, the automotive powerhouse known for brands such as Chrysler, Fiat, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram, has confirmed a significant data breach that has compromised customer personal information.

In a public statement released on Sunday, Stellantis disclosed that the breach originated from a “third-party service provider’s platform that underpins our North American customer service operations.”

The company confirmed the theft of “contact information,” although Stellantis spokesperson Kaileen Connelly did not provide specific details about the types of data that were accessed. They also refrained from disclosing the number of customers who will be alerted regarding the compromised information.

According to Bleeping Computer, the data breach is associated with a hack targeting Stellantis’ Salesforce database. A hacker group known as ShinyHunters has reportedly claimed responsibility, asserting that they absconded with around 18 million customer records.

This incident places Stellantis among a long list of organizations—including Cloudflare, Google, and Proofpoint—that have experienced data theft in a recent breach impacting Salesforce instances.

Updated to include the latest response from Stellantis.
