An American passenger aboard a Carnival cruise has been reported missing after she disembarked during a port stop in the Caribbean. She was seen taking her luggage and informing the crew that she “didn’t want to be found.”

Jessica Collins, who is 47 years old and had booked a journey on the Carnival Horizon, did not return to the ship after its stop in Bonaire on September 17.

Officials in Bonaire initiated an investigation alongside the cruise line.

Security footage released by authorities captured Collins leaving the ship carrying a grey backpack, dressed in a Hawaiian-themed T-shirt and cargo shorts.

Collins had initially left the ship on September 13 with her belongings packed in a backpack, but she had left some cash for the stateroom attendant along with a thank you note, as per a statement from Carnival Cruise Line.

When she failed to return, the ship’s Care Team attempted to contact her. She responded via text, informing them that she was “safe and deliberately did not want to be contacted again,” according to the statement.

The cruise line mentioned they are “working closely with local authorities,” while highlighting that Collins “seems to have intentionally chosen to be by herself.”

The Bonaire government previously reported that Collins left most of her luggage behind, yet she took her identification with her.

The luxurious eight-day cruise through the Southern Caribbean had departed from Miami on September 13. The same ship later embarked from the same Miami dock for a new exploration through the Western Caribbean on Sunday, according to CruiseMapper.
