Spanning from diminutive organisms measuring a mere three millimeters to magnificent humpback whales, the entries showcased in this year’s Ocean Photographer of the Year competition highlight the extraordinary richness and vulnerability of our invaluable aquatic habitats.

The 2025 contest attracted over 15,000 stunning photographs submitted by talented photographers from around the world. Among the remarkable images are enchanting penguins captured off the coast of Antarctica by Romain Barats, complemented by breathtaking shots of coral reefs taken by divers like Kim Hyeon Min and Jenny Stock. This prestigious event is co-hosted by Oceanographic Magazine and Blancpain.

The coveted title of this year’s top prize was awarded to Yury Ivanov for his exquisite photograph capturing two tiny amphipods. These small creatures, despite their size, exhibit stunning colors and symmetry. Ivanov remarked, “It required a lot of patience and precision to compose and light the shot properly. The result reveals an intimate glimpse of underwater life that is often overlooked.”
