The most recent installment of Welcome to Plathville served up a fresh platter of family drama that saw the Plath brothers, Isaac and Micah Plath, embroiled in a heated confrontation.
As tensions simmered during the wedding of Lydia Plath and Zac Wyse, it became clear on the Tuesday, September 23, episode of TLC’s series that some family members had reached their tipping point.
In a candid confessional, 19-year-old Isaac expressed his frustrations regarding Micah’s girlfriend, Veronica Peters, stating, “Veronica’s demeanor has become intolerable—she’s shutting everyone out and playing the victim. It’s reached a point where Micah must decide between her and family.”
Isaac elaborated that he and other family members felt “pushed” to their limits by Veronica, who had joined the friendly feud as a new face in season 6 last year. Notably, it seems that she and Micah, aged 24, are no longer an item, having ended things after the filming of season 7.
As the chaos unfolded, Micah attempted to defend Veronica, stating he “tried” to facilitate her acceptance into the family, only to claim that she was “deliberately isolating herself.” Veronica further justified her early departure from Lydia’s wedding by dubbing the planned activities as “hillbilly fun.”
Following her exit, the real fireworks ignited. “At 1 a.m., I received a text from Micah telling me he was in the hospital, in need of stitches. Apparently, ‘Isaac attacked me over you,’” Veronica dramatically recounted, bewildered as to how she could possibly be the catalyst for Micah’s hospital visit when she was “peacefully asleep three towns over.”
The fallout led to a fraught confrontation the following day at the Plath residence, where tensions were palpable. “I truly hope this misunderstanding can be resolved so we can move on,” stated Micah’s mother, Kim Plath, hinting at her desire for clarity over Veronica’s claims.
Micah, however, stated that Veronica had made “absurdly nasty remarks” about every single family member. In contrast, Veronica voiced her bewilderment, suggesting Micah’s injuries were severe enough to warrant potential plastic surgery, thus asking, “How on earth did I end up being the reason for this chaos?”
Kim attempted to mediate, urging the family members to engage in “adult” dialogue, but predictably, things spiraled quickly. In a shocking turn, Kim claimed to have received feedback alleging that Veronica was bad-mouthing her. Veronica, in a moment of honesty, agreed to feeling used by Kim on several occasions for emotional and practical support.
In a further twist, Kim suggested that Veronica bore similarities to Olivia Plath, Ethan’s ex-wife, saying, “Initially, I dismissed the rumors. But I am starting to see parallels.”
As the tensions reached a boiling point, Kim’s knowledge of Veronica’s past comments—including labeling her a “snake”—sealed the deal on the deepening rift. “I was genuinely giving her a chance, but it’s hard to trust someone who smiles at you while speaking ill behind your back. That seems more like treachery than friendship,” Kim lamented in a confessional.
Welcome to Plathville airs every Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
