Google has launched its new, affordable AI Plus plan across over 40 countries, including locations such as Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, the Philippines, Senegal, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.
The AI Plus plan debuted in Indonesia at the beginning of this month, priced at Rp 75,000 (approximately $4.50) monthly. In most other regions, the cost is around $5 per month, with promotional pricing in select countries, like Nepal and Mexico, offering a 50% discount for the first six months.
This Plus subscription provides users access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, a suite of tools for image and video content creation, including Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast. Additionally, subscribers can explore enhanced functionalities within Google’s AI research assistant, NotebookLM, utilize AI features in Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, and enjoy 200GB of cloud storage.
The initiative by Google comes a day after OpenAI broadened its economical ChatGPT Go plan to Indonesia. It’s noteworthy that India, where OpenAI first launched ChatGPT Go, is not included in Google’s expanded availability.
While both companies feature a standard monthly plan at $20, these new lower-cost subscription options demonstrate an effort to attract a wider audience in regions where a $20 subscription may be considered a financial burden.
