Move over OJ Simpson, there’s a new slow-speed chase making headlines in Florida. A hit-and-run suspect, Kyle McNary, 33, led police on a comically slow 3-mph chase down a Florida highway, with at least four police cars trailing behind him at a snail’s pace as their sirens blared, a wild video shows.

The bizarre incident began when McNary was allegedly seen kicking a passenger out of his black Kia SUV, then slamming into another car and driving off on U.S. 1 near Bunnell on September 25, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Despite police signaling for him to pull over, McNary decided to hit the gas, albeit very slowly, and led officers on a leisurely pursuit that at times slowed down to just 1 mph, as confirmed by Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly. Staly commented on the unusual nature of the chase, stating, “This has gotta be one of the slowest ones I’ve seen in my career. It’s possibly the slowest chase in [county] history.”

Throughout the pursuit, McNary made several U-turns across the highway median and eventually got stuck in a ditch on the side of the road. Despite being trapped, he still refused to exit the vehicle, forcing police to break the window of his SUV before finally apprehending him on the ground.

McNary now faces charges for failing to stop at a crash, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, assault on an officer, and other offenses. The motive behind his incredibly slow driving remains unclear.

The arrest of Kyle McNary for his involvement in this peculiar slow-speed chase has captured the attention of many, drawing comparisons to infamous police pursuits in the past. As this bizarre incident unfolds in Florida, it serves as a reminder that the unexpected can happen when least expected.
