The U.K. National Crime Agency (NCA) announced the arrest of a man related to a ransomware attack that led to severe disruptions across multiple European airports over the weekend.

The cyber attack, which compromised check-in systems provided by Collins Aerospace, began on Friday and resulted in significant delays at notable airports including Brussels, Berlin, Dublin, and Heathrow in London, with the effects lingering until the following days.

The NCA has not disclosed the name of the suspect, a man in his forties who was apprehended in West Sussex on Tuesday. Following his arrest, he was released on conditional bail pending further investigation.

“While this is a notable development, the investigation is still in its initial phases and continues to evolve,” stated Paul Foster, deputy director and head of the NCA’s National Cyber Crime Unit.

NCA spokesperson Richard Crowe updated TechCrunch that no further details were available beyond the initial press release.
