“Running Point” is expanding its ensemble cast for the eagerly anticipated Season 2, welcoming eight new recurring guest stars.

This season of the Netflix basketball comedy series will feature the talents of Robert Townsend (The Bear, Before), Ken Marino (The Residence, The Other Two), Tommy Dewey (Casual, Saturday Night), Richa Moorjani (Never Have I Ever, Fargo), Jake Picking (Top Gun: Maverick, Hollywood), Blake Anderson (Workaholics, Game Over, Man!), Duby Maduegbunam (Caught Up, Sistas), and Aliyah Turner (Power Book III: Raising Kanan).

Character details are outlined below for more insight into the new roles.

In addition to the new cast members, recurring stars Justin Theroux and Uche Agada have been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming season.

They will join a robust lineup of returning cast members including Kate Hudson, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, and Toby Sandeman, alongside recurring guest stars such as Max Greenfield, Jay Ellis, Roberto Sanchez, Jon Glaser, Scott Evans, Rob Huebel, Marissa Reyes, and Justin Hurtt-Dunkley.

“Running Point” made its debut on Netflix in February and earned a swift renewal for a second season, successfully spending five weeks in Netflix’s Global English Top 10 TV chart.

The official synopsis of Season 1 reads:

“When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (played by Hudson) is appointed president of the Los Angeles Waves, a historic professional basketball franchise and her family’s business. Ambitious and often underestimated, Isla must prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the broader sports community that she is the right choice for the position.”

The production team includes Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis as executive producers, alongside Jordan Rambis as a producer. The show is produced by Mindy Kaling’s Kaling International in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling holds an overall deal.
