Perfection is elusive, and imperfections are ubiquitous. From June 18 to 21, the 2026 Bosch Parade invites you to explore how flaws and defects can inspire intriguing discoveries and stunning creations. The theme for this edition, Powered by Defects, offers a modern homage to the world’s minor and major faults.

This biannual parade celebrates Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516), renowned for his fascination with the fantastical and bizarre. Bosch’s symbolic paintings often depict grim visions of the afterlife intertwined with human desires and fears. He is also recognized as one of the earliest genre painters, portraying ordinary people and their daily lives.

Artists participating in the parade embrace Bosch’s philosophy and aesthetics, presenting floating artworks specifically crafted for the event. This year, nineteen new international creations will sail along the Dommel river in ’s-Hertogenbosch, the city of Bosch’s birth that later adopted his name.

The heart of the Bosch Parade is the Garden of Earthly Delights, an open-air studio on the Citadel’s waterfront, a medieval fortress in central ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Here, the public can engage with artists as they bring their works to life.

Since its inception in 2010, the Bosch Parade has attracted thousands of visitors to the area. The 2026 event is curated by David Bade, a multidisciplinary artist and co-founder of the Instituto Buena Bista in Curaçao. In the 2024 parade, he introduced the impactful community project, Your Contemporary Demons.
