This selfless act of care-giving behavior was observed by researchers, shedding light on the compassionate nature of animals beyond what was previously believed.

A fascinating sight of a male Amazon river dolphin (Inia geoffrensis) rolling on its back to shoot a jet of urine into the air was captured. This peculiar behavior is believed to be a form of communication with other dolphins, akin to how land mammals use scent marking. The act of other male dolphins seeking out the urine as it falls back to the water adds to the mystery and complexity of dolphin behavior.

An intense encounter between a superb fairy-wren (Malurus cyaneus) and a cuckoo is captured in this image. The superb fairy-wren is seen trying to fend off the cuckoo, showcasing a behavior observed in more than 20 bird species. These birds use a distinctive “whining” alarm call to alert others of the presence of cuckoos, known for laying their eggs in the nests of other birds to avoid parental responsibilities.
