The Countdown to the Tony Awards: UTA and Vanity Fair Celebrate with Cynthia Erivo
The anticipation for Sunday’s Tony Awards is building, and the festivities have already kicked off in style. On Friday night, United Talent Agency (UTA) and Vanity Fair hosted a star-studded event at the Times Square Edition, with special guest Cynthia Erivo, to honor the agency’s 20 Tony-nominated clients.
Among the nominees in attendance were Gracie Lawrence (Just In Time), Sanaz Toossi (English), Joy Woods (Gypsy), and Daniel Dae Kim (Yellow Face). The guest list also included UTA clients Ashley Graham, Delaney Rowe, Arian Moayed, Jay Ellis, Alyah Chanelle Scott, and more. Executives and editors from both UTA and Vanity Fair added to the glamorous affair.
“This Broadway season has been incredibly vibrant, and it was a joy to bring together the talented individuals we’ve been featuring in Vanity Fair, especially Cynthia, with whom we’ve had a close collaboration this year,” remarked Daniel Kile, acting editor in chief of Vanity Fair.
Vanity Fair has been a strong supporter of Erivo in the lead-up to Wicked: Part I. Erivo and her co-star Ariana Grande graced the cover of the October 2024 issue, just before the film’s global premiere. The cover story was accompanied by a popular lie detector video, in which Grande asked Erivo if she believed there was such a thing as a “fun awards show.” Erivo’s response? “Yes, absolutely! The Tonys are usually my favorite. It feels like a reunion with all the friends I haven’t seen in a while, and theatre is where it all began for me.”
The atmosphere at the Times Square Edition was filled with a sense of reunion—bringing together Broadway’s past, present, and future. The competitive spirit and nerves seemed to dissipate in the midst of the camaraderie and shared anticipation for what’s to come.
