New York-Based Micromobility Startup Launches Seated Scooter Olto

Infinite Machine, a New York-based micromobility startup, has unveiled its latest creation – a seated scooter called Olto. The Olto is set to hit the market later this year with a price tag of $3,495. This innovative scooter is designed to provide riders with a range of 40 miles, thanks to its easily swappable 48V lithium-ion battery. Powered by a 750W rear hub motor, the Olto can reach a top speed of 20 miles per hour in bike lanes and up to 33mph off-road. Equipped with a headlight featuring high and low beams, as well as turn signals, the Olto ensures visibility and safety on the road.

What sets the Olto apart is its modular design, allowing riders to attach or detach various elements such as a child carrier, rear rack, or basket. The fold-out pedals provide pedal-assist propulsion, giving riders the option to use the Olto as an e-bike. Additionally, the Olto can accommodate two riders comfortably, thanks to its dual-suspension frame.

While the Olto comes with a hefty price tag, it is significantly more affordable than Infinite Machine’s flagship two-wheeler, the P1, which is priced at $10,000. The startup has already started shipping the Cybertruck-style P1 to its first customers.

The Olto joins the ever-evolving market of electric two-wheelers, which has faced challenges in the United States. Leading American e-bike brands like Rad Power Bikes have experienced layoffs and leadership changes. International brands have also struggled to establish a foothold in the U.S., leading to bankruptcy restructurings for companies like VanMoof and Cake.

Infinite Machine gained attention with the release of the P1 scooter in 2023 and secured $9 million in funding in late 2024, led by Andreessen Horowitz. Founder and CEO Joseph Cohen envisions having Infinite Machine vehicles in major cities worldwide. For now, the startup is focused on the U.S. market, aiming to provide innovative and high-quality products that stand out from the competition.

“We believe that as an American company, we can offer a unique product sensibility that sets us apart from existing products in the market,” Cohen stated. “Our goal is to create vehicles that evoke the feeling of your favorite car while enhancing urban mobility.”
